GOLF CART REMINDERS

Just a friendly reminder of Golf Cart Regulations within the City of Diamondhead. The operator of the golf cart must have a valid or temporary driver’s license in his/her possession while driving the vehicle on a public street. Proof of financial responsibility for the cart must be presented in the registration process and kept on the cart at all times. All traffic rules/signs/ordinances must be followed while driving the cart. Failure to follow traffic rules/signs/ordinances may result in a ticket issued by the police. Carts can be driven only on

The Diamondhead Community Center will serve as the Information and Welcome Center for the Gulf Coast Spring Pilgrimage for the Diamondhead Garden Club on Thursday, April 5th from 9:00 am – Noon. Cub Scout Pack 210 of Diamondhead United Methodist Church plant trees at City Hall

Members of Cub Scout Pack 210 of Diamondhead United Methodist Church, parents and volunteers planted 16 trees in the green space area at Diamondhead City Hall and Diamondhead Fitness Trail. Included in the plantings were three southern magnolias (the state tree of Mississippi), four crepe myrtle trees (variety Acoma), one green ash tree, five bald cypress trees and three river birch trees. The study considers taxes (both income and sales), the number of doctors’ offices and opportunity for recreation and social life. Lt. Governor Tate Reeves Hosts Town Hall Meeting in Diamondhead

Lt. Governor Tate Reeves hosted a Town Hall meeting in Diamondhead today at the City Hall. More than 100 citizens, including state and local officials, attended the meeting to provide input to Reeves and Coast Legislators on how the Legislature should allocate BP settlement funds from the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill. The state is set to receive $750 million over 15 years from the settlement to offset economic losses from the spill. During the July 5th meeting of the Diamondhead City Council, Mayor Tommy Schafer and Mayor Pro Temp Ernie Knobloch were appointed to the Policy Committee for the NAVAL CONSTRUCTION BATTALION CENTER (NCBC) JOINT LAND USE STUDY (JLUS). Diamondhead Official Awarded 2nd Certification Level by the Mississippi Municipal League

Councilman-at-Large Ernie Knobloch in Diamondhead was recently awarded the designation of Advanced Certified Municipal Official (CMO) by the Mississippi Municipal League (MML). This is the second level of the Certified Municipal Official (CMO) program, which was implemented by the MML in 2002. Before earning the Advanced CMO certification, participants must have earned the Basic CMO certification, which focuses on the basics of municipal organization, law, finance, and land use. East Hancock Library & Kapalama Bridge Opened this Week. Clovis Reed, Manager for the City of Diamondhead, announced at the June 21st Council meeting that the city is literally “open for business” with the re-opening of the Kapalama Bridge late Monday evening and the East Hancock Library on Tuesday morning. The Mayor and City Council expressed appreciation to the Hancock County Board of Supervisors for their quick action to hire contractors and engineers to complete the project in less than 30 days. Diamondhead Secures $1.7 million in Grants for City Initiatives

Over the past three years, the City of Diamondhead has secured $1.7 million in grants for City initiatives as presented by City Manager Clovis Reed during the May 17th city council meeting. This was made possible through the efforts of Diamondhead elected officials and staff working in concert with state agencies and the legislature. The city match for these projects is estimated at only $600,000 for a total project value of nearly $2.3 million. The city, working with the legislature, was also able to secure another $204,000 in Tidelands funds
