Members of Cub Scout Pack 210 of Diamondhead United Methodist Church, parents and volunteers planted 16 trees in the green space area at Diamondhead City Hall and Diamondhead Fitness Trail. Included in the plantings were three southern magnolias (the state tree of Mississippi), four crepe myrtle trees (variety Acoma), one green ash tree, five bald cypress trees and three river birch trees. The troop meets weekly at the Diamondhead United Methodist Church and will water the plants on a regular basis. Jason Pyron, Wolf Scout Den Leader, created identifying labels for each tree with the troop name. The scouts enjoyed their experience working with others as a team and learning about the environment . The City of Diamondhead would like to thank everyone who made this project a success: Crosby Arboretum, Home Depot in Gulfport , Plants and Things, Diamondhead Beautiful Committee, Diamondhead Garden Club, Paul Montjoy, Joe Kaley, Mitzi Botsay, Nancy Depreo, Pat Bontempo, Dianne Domangue, Eileen O’Brien, Penny Crawford, Judy Lee and Nydia Bernard, Brierley Acker and Nadia Bernard.
