Broadband Expansion and Accessibility of Mississippi "BEAM" - Take the Survey Today!

The Office of Broadband Expansion and Accessibility of Mississippi “BEAM” was created through legislation signed into law by Governor Tate Reeves in April of 2022. The BEAM office is charged with creating a map that reflects the level of broadband service throughout the State of Mississippi.  This effort is particularly important because federal funding for broadband expansion will be based on the number of unserved and underserved locations in the State.

BEAM needs your help to get better broadband to Mississippi. Please encourage anyone with slow internet to visit broadbandms.com This website runs three separate speed tests and asks survey questions about internet usage. Those without internet service at all are asked to call 601-439-2535 and leave a message with their address.  You can also text “internet” to that number to leave your address as well. All data collected will be solely for the creation of the Mississippi Broadband Map and will not be sold or used for any other purpose. The map will not contain any identifying information.

Currently, the FCC map shows 100% of Mississippi has broadband coverage. BEAM must file a challenge to that map by January 13th and it is imperative that we hear from individuals around the state who can report their actual experiences with broadband service.  Please share this information by email or through whatever channels you have available.  We hope you will follow BEAM on social media – FB and Twitter and share our posts with your constituents to encourage them to visit the website and record their experiences.

Thank you so much for your assistance in bringing broadband to all Mississippians.
