Skinner Is New Diamondhead Code Enforcement Official

Mike Reso, City Manager for Diamondhead announced today that local attorney Dara Skinner has been hired as the new code enforcement official for the Building Department.

“This is a very important position for our building department to ensure that city ordinances are followed to protect the beauty of our community,” said Reso.

While the position is part-time, reporting to Building Official Ron Jones, Skinner will be actively involved in driving each ward to identify any properties that are outside the codes of the city.  In this position, she will conduct inspections for compliance with various city ordinances and investigate complaints of unauthorized installations, violations of city codes, zoning ordinance, tree ordinance, sign ordinance, and property maintenance.

“I am honored to be selected for this position and I can assure our citizens our approach will be one of customer service and outreach,” said Skinner.  “We want to help our citizens by providing technical assistance to show them what measures they need to take to correct any violations.”

Skinner has been an attorney in private practice for 19 years with extensive legal experience in contracts, estate administration and real estate.  Prior to starting her own practice, she worked as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Gulfport giving legal opinions to department directors, researching municipal legal issues and advising the mayor and city council on legal matters.  A resident of Diamondhead, Skinner holds a J. D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law and has a B. S. in Political Science from the University of Southern Mississippi.  She also has an A. A. from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in Computer Science.
