Turn and Test on November 1

Red Cross Home Fire Safety

On November 1 we will be turning our clocks back one hour, and that’s the perfect time to check our smoke alarms, at home and at our place of business.  And if you have battery-operated alarms, you should change that battery at least once a year.

Of the more than 60,000 disasters to which the American Red Cross responds every year, the most common are single- or multi-family fires.  On average, about 12,000 Americans die or are injured in a fire in their own home each year.
