Hurricane Ida - Sand Bags and Mandatory Evacuation

In preparation for Hurricane Ida, there is a sand bag location at Diamondhead City Hall.  This is self serve and it is recommended to bring a shovel.

The Hancock County Emergency Management Agency in coordination with the Hancock Board of Supervisors and Cities of Bay St. Louis, Waveland and Diamondhead have issued a mandatory evacuation effective Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 10am.  This evacuation is for all low lying areas, residents living on rivers, river inlets, bayou creeks, and in travel trailers, modular homes or mobile homes, home under construction and or partially constructed homes.  The low lying areas include but not klimited to the following:  Shoreline Park (east & west of Hwy 603, north Beach - Cedar Point, South Beach Blvd - Bay St. Louis & Waveland, South side of Diamondhead, Clermont Harbor, Lakeshore, Ansley/Heron Bay, Pearlington, Harbor Drive, Chapman Road, Jourdan River Drive.

There is a evacuation center open at 10am on Saturday located at the Kiln Shelter (18320 Hwy 43, Kiln, MS 39556).  Please make sure to bring all items to be self-contained (bedding, medications, personal hygiene items, drinks and snacks).  Pets are not allowed in the General population shelters.  For more information, call 228-255-0942.
