Chronic Waste Disease - Help stop the spread

Attention Diamondhead Residents: DON'T FEED THE DEER!

The MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is working to prevent the spread of Chronic Waste Disease (CWD) in the deer population in Harrison and Hancock Counties.

Effective Friday, February 16, 2024, the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks is designating a CWD Management Zone in West Harrison and East Hancock counties (Hwy 603 to Hwy 49).

Within the management zone, supplemental feeding is banned. This includes salt licks, mineral licks, and deer feeders.

Any resident found feeding deer within the CWD zone (all of Diamondhead) may be issued a citation by MS Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. Additional information will be made available at City Hall or visit the MDWFP Website.
