Nature Trails
The city is currently working on creating two nature trails within the city. The first trail should be completed by mid October. Each trail will be open for residents and visitors to walk and jog. Motorized vehicles will not be allowed on the trails.
Montjoy Creek Nature Trail
This trail ~ 0.6 miles long will have two points to enter the trail. The first access point will be off of Diamondhead Drive North near the Montjoy Creek bridge. The path will start out as a grassed nature trail from this point up to Banyan Place where the trail will become a stone path. As you get closer to the end a wooden boardwalk will finish off the trail. At the very end of the trail, a wooden observation desk will allow residents and visitors to lookout over the Jourdan River/Devil's Elbow estuary. The second access point will be at the end of Banyan Place. This trailhead will have parking available for uses of the trail as well as an earthen kayak launch for boaters to use to travel up Montjoy Creek to connect to the Jourdan River.
Rotten Bayou Nature Trail
This trail ~1.6 miles long will have a trailhead off of Noma Drive near the football fields. It will connect to the Montjoy Creek Nature Trail near the Devil's Elbow trailhead. Engineer's are currently working on the layout and design. This is a video of this area.
