The City of Diamondhead Public Works Department’s goal is to provide quality service in a timely manner exceeding the expectations of our citizens.  The department works diligently to maintain streets, drainage and the overall appearance of our city.  Keeping our city pristine is a high priority for the department.  If you need to report an issue, contact City Hall.

Can I report illegal dumping or a litter problem?

Absolutely!  Please call the Public Works Department at 228-222-4626, ext. 1798 to report the problem. We will get this cleaned up.  You can also use the online form to report the problem.

How do I report a pot hole in the street?

How do I report that a street light is not working or blinking?

If you notice a street light is out or that one is blinking on and off, you can report that to the receptionist at City Hall at 228-222-4626, ext 0.  You will need to provide the exact address for the street light, and our office will contact Coast Electric to fix the light.

How do I request to have my ditch dug out?

If you need to request your ditch to be dug out, please contact the public works department at 228-222-4626 or fill out the online form to submit a work request.  

Once the request is received, our staff will mark the ditch with white paint to identify where they will dig.  Our staff then calls 811 ("call before you dig") to get the utilities identified.  This could take a few days.  After this is complete, the staff will schedule a time to dig the ditch.

Where do I get sandbags to prepare for a storm?

Sand bags are available at City Hall for the public to access in the event of a large rain event.  Sand and bags are available on the side of the building closest to Diamondhead Drive North by the police department.  Please bring your own shovel since you have to fill your bags.

Will shrubbery be picked up on the side of the road?

Waste Management will pick up bulky waste that a residents puts in front of their house.  However, they will not pick up everything.  If you put out shrubbery, it must be cut into 4 ft lengths and bundled.  You can also put in a trash bag, box, or trash can.  

The city public works department will also pick up shrubbery.  However, if a contractor is doing work at your home, the contractor is required to remove the shrubbery from the property and not put it on the side of the road.
