Event Will Be Hosted In Partnership with NOAA’s Paddle the Gulf and the Lazy Gator Sports Bar & Steamer
Diamondhead, Miss. Sept. 25, 2020 - The City of Diamondhead, in partnership with Paddle the Gulf and the Lazy Gator Sports Bar & Steamer, will be hosting the Inaugural Paddle Paradise on Saturday, Sept. 25th at 9:30 a.m. The event is a 4-mile, non-competitive fun paddle on Paradise Bayou beginning and ending at the kayak launch at Diamondhead Marina. All ages and fitness levels are welcome.
“Diamondhead has an impressive waterfront, even though it’s not located directly on the Bay or the Gulf,” said City Manager, Mike Reso. “We’re looking forward to hosting an event that will bring people together to enjoy the beauty of Paradise Bayou and hope to see more people on kayaks, paddle boards and canoes in the future.”
An after party will be held at Lazy Gator Sports Bar & Steamer, which is located directly in front of the Diamondhead Marina from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. There will be food and drink specials and live music by the Dave Mayley Band.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and will take place onsite and online at https://diamondhead.ms.gov/calendar. The first 100 participants to sign up will receive a free t-shirt and swag bag. The event is free and open to the public. Participants must furnish their own kayak, paddle board, canoe or other self-propelled watercraft. They must also provide their own life jackets and safety gear. Additional questions may be directed to Diamondhead City Hall at 228-222-4626.
